Blog Action Day 2008 – Poverty

In Development, Economy, Internet, Philanthropy, Politics, Poverty, Video on August 21, 2008 at 7:14 pm

Just wanted to let you guys know that I will be participating in Blog Action Day 2008 this year.  What is Blog Action Day?  From the site:

Global issues like poverty are extremely complex. There is no simple, clear answer. By asking thousands of different people to give their viewpoints and opinions, Blog Action Day creates an extraordinary lens through which to view these issues. Each blogger brings their own perspective and ideas. Each blogger posts relating to their own blog topic. And each blogger engages their audience differently.

That’s the basic premise of BAD: to listen to thousands of different perspectives on a single issue in order to understand it more.  Poverty is a complex issue, but after October 15th, I’m hoping to be a little closer to the answer.

Here is a little video summing it all up.  Enjoy!

I am at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma right now. What, at the age of almost-20, am I doing at the children’s hospital? Just getting my favorite hip checked up on. It is hard to believe that it has been about two years since my last visit to Dr. Nick’s. Time flies when you’re not constantly getting metal hardware placed inside your body.

I’ll update you on my health status when I’m done. Wish me luck!

I’m all good. There is a small flat spot on my hip, but there isn’t much we can do about it now.  Also, regarding my whole leg falling asleep, there isn’t anything we can do about that either, other than wait it out and hope it gets better.  Here’s to hoping!

iPhone = Beatiful

In Blessing, Internet, Mobility on August 6, 2008 at 4:46 pm

I shall start this post by making a bold declaration: I love the iPhone.

Just hear me out. I knew I would love it, but actually using it has made this even more clear to me now. I am writing this blog from the free WordPress app. It is somewhat slow-going, but it is worth it!

Anyway, enough about iPhone. I have a post I’m working on, so be patient and wait for my next exciting installment!
